Bat For Lashes (Live)

So I was most fortunate to be able to see London's own Natasha Kahn, aka Bat For Lashes, on Friday the 1st here in Philadelphia at the First Unitarian Church's sanctuary. Not only is that my favorite venue in the entire world (Considering I've only been to a few outside Pittsburgh [Platform 8 in NYC and Rams Head in Baltimore]) and it was probably the best place to see her/them (Depending on which way you look at it).

The band opened up with 'Glass', from Two Suns, clearly a great choice. They played mostly a collection of songs from Two Suns which was fine with me. I love that record. None the less, Natasha's voice is just as beautifully haunting live as it is on the record. Her vocal range is incredible. The atmosphere is also incredible. The acoustics of the church added so much to the show too.

Strangely enough they played a very stripped down version of Daniel and then finished the evening with the record version, which amused me. The band was incredibly tight, it felt very similar to the record which is always comforting, knowing that a band actually can play the things they write/supposedly preformed. There was a drummer/percussionist if you will, a guitarist/bassist and a keyboard player, with Natasha playing a piano when necessary. Over all, it was totally worth the trip, I'm glad that I went, despite being totally drenched on the bike ride to my house to get tickets, but that's okay, I suppose.

I highly recommened everyone goes see this show if they can.
